Papercraft Prototype

While constructing the prototype of my papercraft object, I encountered several obstacles that I will need to revise for the final version, but overall I am happy with how it turned out. Cutting and scoring the paper was by far the most time-consuming part of the process. All the parts of the boombox/cassette player are cut out and ready to glue together. Glueing the pieces together was very difficult, especially with the smaller objects. I will definitely have to adjust the size of these when creating the final object. Here is the constructed object. It's somewhat rough-looking, but overall I like how it turned out! Some things I will have to adjust for the final object: - Remove tabs in some areas, add tabs in others - Change the size of buttons/dials or make them flat details instead - Add flat details - Change the size of the handle - Change the size of the body etc.

Papercraft: Final Revision

After hearing feedback from classmates about what to add and how to improve my design, there were a few things I was eager to try, a few of which ended up not working out due to some difficulties and what I had available to me. I decided to make some of the buttons flat, but I kept some of the more iconic ones three-dimensional to keep their tactility. I also added an extra object, a cassette, which fit in the opening of the front of the object. I had intended to scale my model up a bit, but I was not able to find the physical material to do so, so it only ended up slightly larger than my prototype, that being said I think it makes for a very cute decorative item. I also love that it looks like it has a face. Additionally, here are renders of the object in Rhino, it looks slightly different compared to the paper model, because I decided to alter the smaller details on a whim, and I am overall much happier with how the actual object looks.

Hybrid Project

For this project I was partnered with Dora and Jessica to create a hybrid of several models we created independently, this hybrid would then be 3D printed. Individual Creations. These objects were my creations, overall I like how they turned out, and I enjoyed messing around with some new commands. Next are Jessica's designs, I really enjoy the simplicity and variety in these objects, as they offered both stability and gave a lot to work with! & Finally, there are Dora's designs, I really like the use of shape and the variety, they also give a lot to work with, and are very stable as well as fluid! Brainstorming Next was the steps in the project in which the ideas for the hybrids design, Jessica was the person who had actually done the sketches for this stage and they are incredibly well done and show a lot of good ideas using the provided models!
